That's what I said when I first saw the project, YUK!!!! I tried to figure out what to do????
Jai came up with the Stainless Steel hollow base design and we went to work.
Our propane burners were set to 100,000 btu's each for maximum heat. The glass that we used was Bronze Rust Copper.
This is one side of the two sided fireplace and we will post pictures when the glass is installed of both sides.
Above we have the old burner with a smaller flame pattern which we will change to a double burner in our tray propane pan burner.
You can see the pilot light and thermo-coupler exposed.
So there it is. A clean burning propane burner, 2" method, no soot, no smells, no carbon monoxide and it puts out a tremendous amount of heat. We sell the 2" method because it works and if anyone tries to tell you different, they need your money more than you do. We are the only company building propane burners for glass that don't soot or smell!
The fireplace below is an outdoor fireplace fueled with propane. The remote control (battery operated) is located below by an access panel. We will explain as we move on. This fireplace and Propane Burner was installed in Florida.

On the left side notice the access panel for the battery operated remote control.
The entire cover is removed for access to the actual remote control.
This is a pilot light and thermo couple system and capable of and up to 100,000 btu's. The entire plate will be covered with glass when it is finished.
We will be posting our bowl sizes in standard and as for custom we can make anything. We will also be posting dozens of pictures of the other projects as we have time, like we didn't post enough already?
The fire pit below has a "FPPK"
propane burner installed and the burners were exchanged out for stainless steel. If you were to leave the steel burners in you will eventually have rust pouring out of your fire pit onto the patio which will not look very attractive! The glass used was
1/2" Gray and
Ford Blue. The controls were inside the bottom housing, nice fire pit but almost a big oops.

Above you can see the steel ready to rust and make a mess. Remember you get what you pay for.
The burner below has a 300,000 BTU controller, 36" triple ring mounted on a 48" aluminum base plate for a fire pit in San Diego. These can be adapted for natural gas or propane with up to a 96" lead pilot light and igniter.
The fireplace below is in Mexico where we seem to be sending more and more propane burners and glass for the new homes being built there. The fireplace below has a
Black base glass with
Ice Ice Ice on top of one of our
propane pan burners. Which later a remote control was added by the custom that we sent to them.
The round pan below is a propane pan with electronic ignition. This is a 36" aluminum pan with a 2" lip all around.
The two pans below are stainless steel and are propane fueled with 415,000 BTU electronic ignitions each.

The burner below is a propane manual valve with a pilot light. this burner is mounted on a 60" x 30" 1/2 round stainless steel plate which is not included as standard but an option.
The burner itself is a #304 stainless steel 1/2" pipe triple ring burner and can be used for propane or natural gas.
The fireplace below is a propane fireplace with a propane burner and remote control. We used a Clear base with Starfire on top. Then we added:
Medium Amber Topping,
Yellow Amber Topper,
Steel Blue Topper,
Dark Red Orange Topper over the base glass. The controls were covered after the install was finished. If you look closely you can see the pilot light assembly.
The fire pit below is in the Palace of Qatar and this was commissioned for the King of Qatar. The fire pit is a propane/ butane fueled fire pit and it was installed by Gasco of Qatar. They didn't understand the glass so they opted to use lava rock. Now they (the King) have ordered the glass and if we can get the pictures we will post them.
We did propane for the King and there are no issues! Awesome marble!
The fire pit below was build by Mike Phillips ( a customer). First he ran a propane line to the fire pit area and then blocked his fire pit into shape. We use a FPPK (fire pit propane kit) in an aluminum pan 24" x 24" with a double 18" double stainless steel ring.The glass that was used was a
Gray base and
Gray Reflective on top to add sparkle.
Below you can see the placement of the thermo coupler and safety pilot light used for propane.
Below on the right side the controls were installed in the bricks.

We reconfigure the pilot, burner, base plate, venturi and get it to burn properly.
Nice flames, then we continue.

Paint is and you're done!
The glass that we used was a Starfire base glass, Bronze Rust Copper and Bronze Reflective on top.
If your fireplace does not work this easy or look this simple, then we didn't do it!

Here is the answer some of you think you know. (You don't!) These are Air Mixers, Venturis Carburetors.
These like a carburetor on any engine act as the air fuel mixture governor. Have you ever been behind an older car that smells funny? Wrong air mixture! Bad mechanic! The air mixers have to be calibrated not only to the valving but the burner as well. We have been building propane burners for several years now and we have never had an issue with any configuration that we have built, ever. It's the same as porting an engine for proper air flow. If you just STICK one of these on your burner then you may be giving us a call soon enough.
Here are a few pictures of the 1/2" and 3/4" air mixers, (40,000 to 400,000 btu mixers).
If you attach it and create back pressure, you will have a fire or an explosion, guaranteed. We are not trying to frighten you but to make you aware. We believe in safety first and we don't build systems without thermo couples and or pilot light systems, ever!
As you may have of seen on our "How Not To Do It Page" they still screw up no matter how hard they try. We are here only to help!

There was a steel bowl installed using our propane system to burn our glass. They used Bronze base glass in the fire pit.

Let me tell you how we feel about these other companies selling Propane Bunrers for Fireglass that they don't know nothing about:
You purchased a Ford and now you are going to the Cadillac dealer for advice and parts on how to fix the problems. That is not how it works. We need you to put pressure on the company that sold you the product that does not perform as you thought it should. We will and or can resolve your issues, but you need to make sure these companies stop selling products they know nothing about.
Have you contacted the company that you purchased from?
Have you received any advice from this company on how to resolve the issue?
Are they even concerned about your problems?
Did you disclose to this company what you were working on?
Did this company ask for details about your project?
Have you asked if you can return all of the parts and products because of product failure?
Does this company even have any information online about their success on propane burners?
Did you receive any customer support?
Does the company you purchased from even have a physical address where you can visit?
We do genuinely feel bad for the customer being taken advantage of by companies such as these, selling parts and supplies, which they know nothing about.

This would be step one. Then we would step in and fix your issues.
