Unique Fireplaces

This unique natural gas fireplace comes to us from our customer's 2nd home in Palm Springs.  It was an awesome cross-design of something both Rustic & Modern, just like us MODERUSTIC!

She wanted a rectangular fire-area, so we used an H-burner.  She initially wanted light colored FireGlass so we used some low-cost playground-sand as our base.   Below you can see the H-burner being installed.  Our only constructive criticism is that the gas stub connection had not been placed so high on the wall; made it very difficult to conceal.

With the sand base in place, and burner installed we pour the Starfire Base Glass over everything.

So here is the FireGlass with some light Cobalt Blue Topper, which matched the floor with light blue specks.

A bit later though we heard back from our customer, who decided on a different direction.  On the 2nd go-around she decided that she wanted a darker FireGlass.

With darker glass, we use a darker base, so this time we used crushed lava as the filler below the burner.

Here it is completed with Super Black Base Glass FireGlass.

The next fireplace was a very unique design.  They wanted a natural gas star shaped burner.

Below you can see the burner cranked up, with a nice flame pattern.  The image next to that is the burner box being put in place.

We built a set of fire stick for an architect "Woody Dike" on the Nipomo, California project (seen above) a few years ago. Then Woody contacted us to build a set for him. He even sent us a drawing and included a diorama! Check it out and tell us what you think!  Here is the blue print: and diorama.

Woody is over the top!

Above and below you can see the control valves at the bottom of the Fire Sticks.  Below after installing and fine tuning the gas flow they then covered the base with sand and then topped it with. Black Magic and several Toppers.  Awesome job Woody!

The fireplace below was hand made by one very creative customer, great job!

This fireplace from Georgia, was a real one of a kind - but had the unfortunate luck of being initially designed with ugly fake logs!  Which consequently rendered it useless as the owners had such a problem with soot (carbon monoxide poisoning).

So we redesigned the fireplace with an air vented pan and used our clean-burning FireGlass.

Here you see the New Pan and Burner Ring with the FireGlass installed Starfire Base Glass and Ice Ice Ice Topper.

So by the time we were done, the fireplace retained its unique design, but more importantly, it was usable!!!

This awesome, fireplace comes to us from Huntington Beach CA.  Click on any of the pictures to see how it was made.

The fireplace below is a Malm Carousel Fireplace ( www.MalmFireplaces.com ). We replaced the attempted dual burner which it was originally installed with with a simple 12" steel ring.

This fireplace has a safety pilot light kit which was still left intact for local code reasons but we did get rid of the non functioning pan burners.Below we poured the crushed lava base up to and just covering the ring burner.  Then we poured the Bronze Rust Copper Base Glass over the ring and crushed lava.

With the doors closed just enough as you can see now they can control the hurricane/ tornado effect!

The fireplace below is in Mexico where we seem to be sending more and more propane burners and glass for the new homes being built there. The fireplace below has a Black Base Glass with Ice Ice Ice Topper on top of one of our propane pan burners. Which later a remote control was added by the custom that we sent to them.

The carousal Propane fireplace below was installed with a dual battery operated 100,000 BTU propane electronic ignition system. Each capable of 100,000 BTU's of fire. The first pictures show what we had to work with and how it progressed.

Above you can see the soot that come out of the fireplace and and leaves your house smelling so carbon monoxide fresh! YUCK!  Add a bit of lime stone.

And here we are finished. The glass that was used was Starfire Basse Glass  FireGlass, Gold Base Glass FireGlass and Ice Ice Ice Topper.  Now isn't that much better little feller?  Modern times call for modern measures! I guess that's why we are Moderustic!
